How are rugby balls made? The rugby ball has come a long way since we used pigs bladders were surrounded by leather. Back during the pigs bladder, the ball varied size due to the size of the pigs bladder. All the materials have changed but the ball still has some things in common these are the oval shape, general look and feel of the ball .

Rugby balls have been changed from leather to using natural rubber or synthetic materials that are more efficient to withstand materials. Polyester is used in the inner lining of the rugby ball to keep its oval shape. Then additional grip/laminas have been added to the ball for handling reasons. An inflatable latex bladder has replaced the pigs bladder in a rugby ball with an accessible valve on the outside of the ball. The ball is then hand stitch.
